Grievance Deadline Calculator

A missed deadline can permanently waive a grievance — even a slam-dunk one. Use this tool to compute the latest day a grievance can be filed. Always confirm against your actual CBA language.

Filing deadline

Monday, June 1, 2026

16 days remaining from today.

Federal holidays for the current and next calendar year are pre-loaded. State-specific holidays and contract-defined business-day rules may vary — always verify against your CBA.

How deadline counting works

Most CBAs state a time limit in calendar days or business days from the date of the incident or the date the grievant knew (or should have known) of the violation. Common patterns:

  • Calendar days: every day counts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Business days (Mon–Fri): weekends do not count; holidays may or may not.
  • Business days excluding federal holidays: weekends and the 11 federal holidays do not count.

When the contract is silent or ambiguous, file at the earliest possible deadline interpretation to be safe.
